Synopsis
APSOPAD International, a non-profit independent humanitarian NGO founded in 2012 in Tangier (Morocco), has become a model for self-sustained non-profit organization through its revenue-generating activities, primarily focused on providing professional training. The APSOPAD Institute, launched in 2013, offered specialized training in social work, attracting students from various backgrounds and countries. However, as COVID-19 pandemic has significantly disrupted traditional learning models in all fields, the institute faced challenges like market saturation and evolving learner preferences, leading to a decline in enrollments. The central question for Professor Ahmed, its founder, was how the institute should adapt its strategy and training offer to remain profitable, given that the institute has become the NGO’s cash cow. This case is a valuable resource for understanding the intersection between strategic rethinking, non-profit management, and educational innovation, making it applicable to various academic and professional settings.
